My Dell XPS is giving me grief. I am getting bizarre patterns on my display and the PC is crashing. Has never happened before in 4 years!!

This is with my Nvidia 8600 installed -

This is with an old Radeon X600 (pulled from a very old PC) -

Would you say both cards are knackered or is there something worse?

I am urgently seeking advice as will buy a new GPU today if somebody can confirm if it is definitely a GPU Issue?

Many thanks for your help

This might sound crazy, but have you tried a different power supply?

Seems odd that 2 gfx cards in the same machine (with a presumably 4yr old power supply of unknown make) would both junk out. Though they're from different mfr's, so maybe you're not fully uninstalling the NV drivers before installing AMD's (or vice versa).

My first thought - power supply test.
Second - try another PCI-E slot (even if it's only x4 speed, as long as the card fits).
Third - full driver uninstall/reinstall test.
Fourth - try totally different, known to be working video card.
Fifth - mobo burning out?
