Are components universal worldwide (US to China)?

I'm planning on helping a friend build a computer in the next few weeks. He is going to be in China this week, and I suspected that components may be cheaper in China. However, I am a little worried about compatibility of parts bought in China and the US.

If I got a processor from China, would it fit in a US bought mobo? What about RAM or SATA cables?

I think that is incorrect .
The wall socket might be different but the psu power in socket is part of the ATX standard and should be the same in any country . At worst you need a new power cable

Any 80 + [ or better ] psu will have active -PFC and should just plug in to any 110 or 240 volt socket and automatically adjust output voltages accordingly .

Other components might not be certified for use in a particular country , but they will still usually meet the standard . Just that no one imports that exact model so...

Ideally stick to major brands and models you know are available in your home country
