are cpu socket covers universal on all motherboard or does each motherboard have its own

I just RMA'D a motherboard and I don't have the cpu socket cover that came with it. I have a cpu socket cover from another mother board and both motherboards are lga1151 sockets will this cpu socket cover work ?

hard to tell, it *might* work, as long as cover conforms to socket 1151 dimensions, they should be semi-interchangeable....

Proceed carefully, place on socket lightly, see if any tendency to shift when closing lock down clamping mechanism...

From what I've seen all the socket 115x boards use the same socket protector.
