Before we start:
i7 4790K @ Stock
NH-U12S with Noctua NT-H1 paste.
Ambient is 24C.
When using Firefox... sitting at a page is fine. 28C-34C. Loading any page makes it jump as high as 44C then right back down. Only the package really seems to jump this high. Individual cores seem to have like 2C-5C jump most of the time... When watching Youtube it jumped to 53C, but stayed at around 38C-44C.
In games I get to 64C max. Games like Battlefield 4 with 64 players on a map doesn't go above that. Dragon's Dogma, for some reason, makes my CPU go to 74C maximum in one area only, every time. This is the highest I've ever seen it. While actually playing the game it ranges from 42C-66C (excluding that one area).
Firestrike 1.1 on the Physics test sees it at a 74C max as well.
So, are these temps safe? And are jumps like this normal?
