Are Crossfire r9 290x sufficient to get 60 + fps at 3440x1440?

I plan to game (and do video editing) on a computer I'll be building, but I am at a loss when it comes to what GPU to choose. The monitor I'll be using is the LG 34UM95 which is 3440x1440 @ 21:9 aspect ratio. It should demand somewhere between 1440p and 4k, and though it might not be necessary at that resolution, I to use AA (as well as do high settings in new and upcoming games).

Are two r9 290x's what I'm looking for? What else should I consider? Is the r9 295x2 worth the price of three r9 290x's (which it costs where I live)? Any nvidia cards I should consider instead (I'm willing to dish out the price of two 780ti's, but is 3gb vram enough at that resolution)?
All these questions, any and all answers apreciated.

One 295x2 will not run BF4 at constant 60 fps @4k. It will if your tone down all your settings to low or medium.
I think i may be able to run at 60 fps at 3440x1440 but I have no personal experience. Try 2 290x if budget is limited, and you can add another later.

Cheers.

If you are going to focus on gaming, maybe then plan for multi x16 slot motherboard and buy 2 290x with space for more cards later.
Buy 295x2 when thinking of using the same card for upgrading later and limited by PCIe slots. It is the same price as 3 290x, thus initial investment is substantial.
For editing of video I think huge RAM and fast SSD may be beneficial, thus x79 (or x99) platform may be your route.

3440x1440 = 5mp, 4k = 8mp,

The resolution only needs half it's horse pwoer ( a bit more tho ). It will be no issue in any game on high settings for sure.
