[SOLVED] Are CRT's better for gaming than modern LCD monitors

When reading comments section on monitor reviews, I often run into a comment about the superiority of CRT technology. Many of the comments state that LCD's are a step back?! I realize most people have never even seen a CRT monitor in real life. To those who have gamed on both, what is your opinion?

Meh, CRTs have immediate display while LCDs need to wait for the whole image for them to display it so you have one frame of lag,at most.
It's nothing you or anybody will ever notice.
But then there are LCDs with tons of effects and each of them can potentially add more and more lag but that's not the fault of LCDs, if CRTs where still around the companies would add these effects to them as well and it would add the same amount of lag.

Now what is different and what you will notice very much is the aesthetic of an CRT, especially with retro games,they were designed for CRTs and look much nicer on them.

Comparisons like that are vanishingly small.
Few are the people that have played the same game, with the same system, and the only difference is CRT vs LCD.

LCD's still haven't matched CRT's in color gamut. This is important in such things as photo retouching and video.

CRTs are around ≈sRGB gamut (in fact the sRGB standard was designed to characterize the output of a typical CRT). LCDs which surpass that have been available for over a decade.

This is untrue, LCDs don't wait to receive an entire frame before they display their image. They receive the image one line at a time and update the display one line at a time, and they don't wait to receive the whole frame.

Ahh the good old days, crt monitors and tv's with a sega mega drive and a pentium 3 pc. Everything running absolutely perfect. Long before people ended up spending thousands of pounds on pc gaming and still can not get games to run without stutters or hitching.
