Hi folks,

Ive just ordered a monitor (AOC G2460PG) and will only be able to have this connected to the motherboards display port for the time being as its part of my sons xmas.....the graphics card won't be bought until nearer the time as hoping prices will drop by then.

I will want to connect it to the motherboard purely to test its working properly and to see if there are any issues like dead pixels or backlight glow that gets mentioned a lot.

The questions I have is....is dead pixels easy to spot or is there some sort of screen test that will highlight this for me?

Is there any proper calibration tools or programs I can download or use to get the best possible colours from it? And will I need to repeat this process again when the graphics card is eventually installed?

Thanks

Cheapskate way to check for dead/stuck pixels:
Load up Paint (Windows app) and resize the image to your monitors rez. Use the paint can option to fill the screen with a colour then press F11 you'll get a full screen image of one solid colour. Repeat by simply refilling (paint can) the image with different colours and F11 to view, any dead or stuck pixels will be very obvious.
Yes, you'll need to recalibrate with a new card. for maximum colour accuracy.
