• Happy holidays, folks! Thanks to each and every one of you for being part of the Tom's Hardware community!

Are either of these GPU's compatible with my CPU and motherboard?

Really? I googled what I could upgrade and found this:

as well as this:

I wanted to know if either GPU, mostly the R9 270, is compatible with both my CPU and motherboard. I have looked at building a new PC but prices are really unreasonable right now, still haven't ruled it out I'm just weighing my options.

If I had a budget of $600-$650 (possibly $700) what would you suggest? I just want to be able to run modern AAA games at 1080p on high/ultra settings at 60fps, but with the R9 270 I was just looking for something to tide me over until GPU and RAM prices go down. I'm actually playing at 900p but if I'm building or buying a new PC I'd rather not have to worry about replacing essential components to game at 1080p. I have tried putting several build lists together but everything seems to go over budget except for pre-builts. Is the performance I want just not attainable in today's GPU and RAM economy? If it is, again, I'd love to see if you have any custom builds or pre-builts to suggest in my price range.

Thanks a ton.

How much of an upgrade in performance would I see if I upgraded my Radeon HD 7700 to an R9 270, provided that that's the only thing I change?
