Hi

I'm in the market for a new power supply, and saw that on Fry's Electronics website they are selling an EVGA 430 watt power supply for $30(or 15 after rebate) I was pretty skeptical of the price, and I saw on a few forums (this include) that say EVGA psus like the G2 B2 and P2 units are the only EVGA units to buy. Can anyone tell me if this PSU im going to buy is good? Is it rated higher than it is or not going to blow up for no reason?

well dell notoriously uses high quality power supplies. if its exhausting heat then its doing what it is supposed to do. the gt620 is relatively very low power. if your not upgrading your graphics card or changing your cpu, i would not worry about it.

though if you wanted to, the antec vp450 would be your best bet on the cheap, and you can even upgrade to a gtx750ti and throw in an i5/i7(if you dont already have one) and have no problems.

Do you know what series the one i am wanting to buy is?

Entry to mid-level gaming. I'm using an EVGA Nvidia GT 620(entry level GPU) and used eXtreme power calculator and found that my components take about 280~watts on my 300 watt Dell power supply. When playing games such as Assassins Creed 4 on lowest settings for more than an hour the exhaust fan on the back of the PSU gets very hot, im guessing thats because it is near its limit. I want to upgrade my PSU to the EVGA PSU so it does not heat up so much.
