Are GIGABYTE motherboards any good for gaming?

I was looking to get the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GTX 1080 and a GIGABYTE G1 gaming motherboard to go along with it.

As a rule like most things, the more it costs to buy the better the quality the components are on the motherboard, and the better the motherboards chip set will be of the motherboard.

When you buy a motherboard that is cheap to buy Ambam the components and the chip set used on the motherboard will be of a lower quality and lack features that a more expensive board will cost to buy.

The capability of the chip set of the motherboard can have an impact on how well the cpu is used or utilised, and for example how much ram or memory you can fit to the motherboard in capacity or density.

And a more expensive motherboard will come with a lot more connectors or interfaces or expansion options.
Ranging from how many usb ports the board supports to the mode the Pci-e graphics card slots of the motherboard work at. for example the motherboard may have two pci-e graphics card slots so you are able to use either Nvidia sli mode, or Ati cross fire mode of two graphics cards where each Pci-e card slot will run each card at Pci-e x16 mode.

The chip set used on the motherboard, if cheap will have very limited features in the bios options.
And often come with less control over power settings, or over clocking features if you plan to overclock the cpu for example.

In short the Gigabyte G1 is a good choice.
The board uses good quality components and a good chip set on it, paired with a GTX 1080 it is a excellent choice for a gaming system build.

Thanks! I'm not going to spend $400+ on a motherboard.

The GIGABYTE G1 Gaming Z170 is a solid choice according to what people have told me.

I would also look at the Gaming 5 and 6 both very good boards.
