Are hard Disk health checker software reliable?

There are many softwares that can tell u the approx time before your hard disk runs out of life, are they reliable? Im using "Hard disk sentinel" software and it is telling me that my 9 year hard drive still has approximately 780 days. can i trust it? or should i have backup of my data? Btw i know backup of data is always safe but i know for fact that i have 780 days ill be little relieved.

Those are simply *very* rough approximations based on the vitals of the hard drive. A bit like the actuarial tables your life insurance company uses. You should *always* have a backup of your data, whether a tool of this nature says 1 days or a billion days.
