Question Are HDDs that are manufactured between 2012-2014 reliable ?

Only certain WD HDDs can be hacked to be used as internal Xbox 360 HDDs. I can get them all brand new sealed. All of them are manufactured between 2012-2014.

Are these HDDs reliable ? how likely is it that they will fail ?

Plenty of articles out there on upgrading to a sub 1TB SATA SSD, I would go that route before looking at 10 year old hard drives.

Xbox 360's internal SATA connection is only compatible with certain WD HDDS Only!! and they are all manufactured between 2012-2014....SSDs or even other brands of HDDs will not work...
