Question Are mATX cases the same as mid towers?

I was looking at mATX cases and saw the Asus a21, which looked very nice, but I looked at the dimensions and they where practically the same as my current mid-tower case ( Fractal focus G).

MATX will allow for 4 expansions slots vs. Full ATX which allows 7.
MATX motherboards fit in a ATX case, but ATX motherboards are too large for a MATX case.
