Are Micro-ATX motherboards bad?

I'm wanting to get a new CPU soon but save some money on a mobo, and was wondering if I should get another micro-ATX (I have an old 3+1 power phase board right now that's micro ATX). Is there any drawbacks to having a micro-ATX motherboard, other than probably not having sli/xfire support? Thanks!

AM3 + micro motherboards are poor , other platforms have decent ones.

There's nothing wrong with a Micro-ATX motherboard. Aside from lacking some expansion slots (PCI/PCI-E/RAM), many use the same chipsets as their ATX cousins and function just as well.

The micro atx form factor in general isn't bad, their identical to their ATX brethren but only have less expansion slots.

However if you mean AM3+ micro atx boards specifically then yes they are not that great, none of them even have a 990fx chipset.

Yes that will be fine with mild overclocking because it only has a 4 phase design.
