[SOLVED] Are mp4 file heavier than MKV?

Hello, I have a laptop.
It can't run 720p mp4 video. after 15 second, it the image freeze.
but, it can run 4K video with big lag ( but still better than 720p mp4 ).
So, is mp4 heavier than MKV?

MP4 is just a "folder" where you can put anything you want into it.You will have to look at the codec and quality settings that are used.

okay. so, if i wanted to download a video which file type should i choose?
i prefer video file which have higher quality without stuttering.
It's okay if the file is heavy.

You have to look at what codec and at what quality your hardware can handle.
Use mediainfo on videos that play well and only use those codecs and up to that quality to determine what to download.

Looking at laptop reviews might also tell you what quality of videos your laptop can handle.
