Are MSI Afterburner settings permanent?

I downloaded and user the MSI Afterburner utility for my Dell Studio 1555. Does this app tend to overwrite all the tweaks onto the graphics hardware? as in, does the graphics card continue to use the tweaked settings even when the app is not running or even after the app has been uninstalled from the computer?

i think only works when program running, my fan profile only active if program running.

You can set Afterburner to "Apply overclocking settings at startup". Otherwise, your OC settings will only hold during that PC session. There is a "Reset" button that you can use to revert back to default settings at any time.
