Are my CPU and MOBO holding my PC back?

Hi,

In 2014, I built my first PC, but at the time I did not have a lot of knowledge about the components. I upgraded my GPU several times through the years but have had a lot of issues with performance in games and even normal browsing being slow.

My specs are
-Intel i5 3570 3.4Ghz
-ASrock Extreme3 MOBO
-MSI GTX 1070 GAMING 8GB
-BeQuiet Powerzone 750W Bronze
-8 GB RAM
-2 TB SSD
-Zalman Z11 plus case

My initial thoughts were to change the MOBO and CPU to a newer model, but I was wondering if this was going to greatly improve perfomance. Also, what CPU and MOBO would you recommend? Price range is around 450/500 (CPU and MOBO combined).

Thank you!

Well we need more information like is this for gaming? What resolution do you play on? Do you record while you game? etc...

And yes. From what I see here you would benefit decently from a new motherboard and CPU upgrade. Such as a Z370 and 8700k.

However, we can give you more accurate advice with questions above answered.

The CPU is almost certainly a bottleneck. If you're purely gaming, I'd recommend upgrading to an 8th gen i5/i7 for the CPU depending on how much you're willing to spend. As for the motherboard, I don't know nearly enough about them to give a good recommendation, so I'll have to leave that to somebody else.

Thanks for the responds! Sorry for the lack of info. I currently game in 1080P (since 1440P would not run well at all right now), 500 euros is my max, I do not record my gameplay. My PC is primarily for gaming. IF my PC runs considerably better after my upgrade, I will think about upgrading to a 1440P monitor, so the CPU and MOBO should be futureproof as well.

Thanks so much!

I would like 8600k but the budget falls short. 8400 is fine too, but Ryzen 2600 is close in gaming but has doubled threads and longer socket life.

Thanks for your response!

You included RAM as well, would that be necessary? I would have 24 GB of Ram then, wouldn't that be quite overkill?

Would my RAM hold my pc back? Because if it wouldnt be a big bottleneck, I could use the money on the CPU and MOBO.
