Are my graphics cards damaged, or is it the monitor's issue?

When I try to play a game, there are white "waves" on the screen. They are white lines that run down the monitor. Sometimes they don't just run down the monitor, but they move really quickly up and down the monitor. They always move in a vertical motion. Is this the monitor's problem, or are my graphics cards in SLI damaged or not working properly? The monitor is a Dell U2142m, but I will soon be getting an ASUS ROG Swift PG278q. I have two 980's in SLI.

I would think that the cause is the driver. Try switching to a new or older one.
