I'm new to PC building and would like to know if my parts are all compatible.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case

CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 3 FCLGA 1150 Processor

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z97-A

Ram: PNY Optima 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 Desktop DIMMs Memory Kit MD8192KD3-1333

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclock w/G-SYNC Support 2GB GDDR5 128bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI, DP 1.2 Graphics Card

Power Supply: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Optical Drive:LG Electronics Optical DVD Drive GH24NSB0B

Hard Drive: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache - WD10EZEX

I'd like to know if they're all compatible and if not what I could replace those parts with. Is there anything unnecessary that I should cut back on? Is there anything I should improve? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'd just like a decent gaming PC. No overclocking or things of that manner.

That's pretty exciting to hear considering this is my first build and I only started doing research on PC building yesterday :). So there's nothing I could improve upon?

Were you looking at a specific price range? For about 670$, I slightly modified your build for higher quality parts, such as the PSU and RAM: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/VLcDQ7

I also made a second build that will give you an AMD CPU for almost the same price (it has 8 cores instead of 2(4 with hyperthreading) but the cores are slightly less good, which will change nothing in a real-world scenario), and a motherboard that is much less expensive but is high quality as well. Having done this, I added a GTX 760 instead of a 750Ti, which will give you a good boost in games.

I have a question. How is the CPU compatible with the motherboard? Asus is intel and the CPU is amd.

Edit: I think I answered my own question. is it because the motherboard is AM3+?

also another question: Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs. What does this mean? This is the only compatability issue i found in this build:

Yes it's because the motherboard is AM3+, and Asus doesn't only make Intel cpu boards, in fact I don't know of a single company that doesn't make boards for both Intel and AMD.

There is no need to worry about the Bios update warning as that board most definitely already has it. Also, the other incompatibility warning is about the case you chose, as it doesn't have USB 3.0 in the front whilst the motherboard supports it, no need to worry.

Splendid
For a decent gaming PC, get a Core i5 unless you're on a strict budget then grab a AMD FX6300 6 core.
Intel Core i3 don't need a Z97 based board. A H81, B85, or H97 will do. Get DDR3 1600 ram not DDR3 1333.
Change the PSU, Corsair CX aren't that good. You will also need a OS, that adds about $100 to the build.
There are 2 versions of that CM 212 case. CM 212 and CM 212 Blue, the Blue has front USB 3.0 ports, the other does not.
