Hi! Hope I'm posting this in the right category. My PC has been getting a bit too hot lately and I wanted to get some opinions on whether it's normal/what to do about it. I noticed it right after I've been running The Witcher 3 for a few hours.

Here's my rig:

Intel Core i7-3820
MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB
16GB RAM (x2 8GB Samsung DDR3 @ 800 MHz)
64-bit Windows 7
ASUS SABERTOOTH X79
Case: Coolermaster Silencio 550
Also this (got it from PC Specialist idk why it's so vague) :

Here's a screenshot of three different temperature monitoring programs 🙂p) right after closing the game:

(My CPU temp isn't actually over 120°C, the PC Specialist people told me that its temperature sensor is faulty)

And a screenshot taken after running the game, letting the computer sleep and cool down, and logging on again (so min temperatures are on startup/idle and max are while running TW3):

I am running the game at ultra settings and getting a steady 60fps so I understand my computer is supposed to get warmer but even the case gets uncomfortable to touch so I get worried and close the game.

Some more info: I bought this computer in 2013. I've never changed the thermal paste or interfered with anything besides changing the graphics card a few months ago (from a 650 Ti to a 970) - so I have opened the case. It had barely any dust in it but I still used a can of pressurised air to make sure it was all clean. TBH I think the culprit is the case I'm using since it was one of the cheaper options and it probably has some air circulation issues. Oh and our average room temperature doesn't go above 25-27°C.

What do you think? I'd really appreciate any advice :)

P.S.: I hope the image links work 'cause they don't show up in preview

What case are you using? Your 970 temps look fine as they maxed at 60C. Your CPU is a little warm on one core, but not alarming for Witcher 3 I'd think. Your motherboard temps look a bit warm at 58C, but that could be due to air circulation, as you mentioned your case itself feels warm.

Yeah the 970's fans only start when it gets to 60 degrees and they work like a charm (thank you MSI) :)
I'm using a Coolermaster: Silencio 550 case.

That could be your problem. Your case includes two 800 RPM fans(1 intake, 1 exhaust). I'm not sure though if your using stock fans though. It would keep your case quiet at the expense of temps. Plus, an X79 build w/ a 970 playing witcher 3 will get warm in a case like that.

I see. So would you recommend buying a new case or doing something else?

Well, do you know whether your case came with stock cooling or not? Did PC Specialist change the fans? How many case fans are there? Yours supports 3. You could change out all the fans for faster ones to move more air? How cramped is the space inside your PC now? Also, you could run your system without side panel to see what temps are like.
