Are my Specs any good?

Hi All,

This is my first time ever building a PC and i want it to be as perfect as it can be. Extensive research has been done and have put together a list of specs and i would like to ask you, seasoned PC builders, if this combination is good? I am a little unsure about the psu, do i need to upgrade it? Will probobly not overclock but i would like to install a couple of Led strips. Lastly, are the overall parts compatible and is there anything that can be done better?

Specs:

Intel Core i7-8700K
ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 ROG Strix Gaming
Corsair TX550M, 550W PSU
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU
ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming, S-1151
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666MHz 16GB
Phanteks Eclipse P400
Samsung PM981 SSD 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5'' HDD

Thank you all in advance!

Unlocked cpu with a locked motherboard so you can’t overclock. The -k model is slightly faster than non-k at stock. If you want to OC you need a Z370 board.

Not a fan of push pin mounted cpu coolers. Which other one you need depends on if OCing or not.

Would recommend upping the psu to 650w for a little headroom but you would probably be ok.

Also shoot for ddr4 3200 CAS 16 if you can afford it.

I am not planning on overclocking at the moment. However i might upgrade the motherboard in the future for mild overclocking.

What CPU cooler would you recommend at the $50 price range for, lets say, at stock or mild overclocking usage?

Also do you have any recommendation for a 650W PSU?

Thank you for your help.

I have the Cryorig H5 and love it - whisper quiet at gaming load and 60C on 4.7 all core OC.

A TX650M would be fine. Really like my Seasonic tho, has 10 year warranty. EVGA G2/3 is good.

Edit: upgrading the mobo later is a pain. I recommend just committing to OC or not and save any change for your next system upgrade.
