Are P4's Hot Chips?

I've just changed my XP2400 & GA7DXR mobo for a P4 2.8 & GA8S648FX mobo.

After reinstalling windows I've had a lot of graphics problems & crashes, tried many different drivers & then discovered if I take the cover off my PC, the crashes still happen but after much more time.

Could the temperature increase so much, by going from an XP2400+ to a P4 2.8 that it would make my graphics card overheat?

I've tried to monitor the temp of my CPU but can't get any software to recognise the fan. If I do a quick restart, the bios reports the temp as about 40degC for CPU & system. I presume it goes alot hotter when under load.

Thanks for any help

Intel chips are a lot hotter than amd chips. As stated above, more ventilation in the case should solve the problem.

the reason they are more hotter is cause they use more power...

fans, watercooling, something...
