Are PCI Wifi cards dead technology?

I was hoping i could pick one up in stores today as i cant stand the humming from my internet modem

Got any good recomendations on a pci card for gaming?

Not completely dead but with the explosion of mobile devices, wireless desktops are not exactly relevant.

You can get a wifi card at almost any online retailer.

Recommendations is really based on your router speed but I find that any n adapter capable of 150Mb/s is sufficient for hard core gaming.
