Are PSU universal?

I have a P4 PSU and i am planning to use it when i build intel duo core but i am wondering, can i use it? If yes, is it universal and can be used on any PC? My PSU have a sticker of 230 V.

Yes and no, if your going to use SATA drives, and you currently have IDE your going to run into problems because the connectors won't fit. Also, computers generally require more wattage now than they did in the Pentium 4 days. My current pentium 4 system has a 450 watt supply, the new one I'm building has 850 watts. So no, they aren't universal, also, the PSU is arguably the most important part of the entire system, if something in it fails, it can turn your entire machine into a thousand dollar paperweight. So it really depends on the wattage of the supply, how much power your going to use, and if your going SATA or IDE.
