Question Are RAM sticks from the same brand & series, but different speeds the same?

Not sure if this should go here or in overclocking.

I'm looking at some RAM sticks and the Patriot Viper Steel series have caught my eye. I found the manufacturer's SKU sheets and it seems that the hardware between the 3000MHz and the 4400MHz versions are the same (i.e. the weights, dimensions and presumably the heatsinks are the same).

So is the only difference that the 4400MHz version comes preloaded with the XMP profile for a higher speed? If so, then that would mean that if you could get the numbers for the 4400MHz profile, then the 3000MHz sticks should be able to run at 4400MHz no problem, right?
