hey guys is an ssd worth the money ?

ive recently spent my money on a mechanical keyboard and now i need to upgrade my storage for the os atleast to the ssd and games such as bf4 ....

is i t worth the upgrade?

Solution
i've only had 1 ssd, and been using it for... 3-4 years maybe? so far, it is fast, it's snappy. It wont increase your fps, but the loading time will be cut by a big margin. my boot time is 13sec if im not mistaken. Loading of bf4 is a lot faster also.
Keep in mind that i am still using an old ssd, and it's not the fastest even when it got released years ago. But a slow ssd is still a lot faster than a mechanical drive.

in short, let's just say that i won't go back to using mechanical drive for my OS (and some games/apps). You don't have to spend much, 120gb is ok, you just have to manage it a bit. I only have 80gb :)
samsung evo is looking good, i am actually thinking of getting one, but i am not yet sure :)

yes.. if you get the 64Gig then you should install your operating system on it and maybe one or two games max.. my current set up is windows 7 ultimate on a 64gb crucial ssd and a 500gig drive for my program files.. the speed of the ssd drive will give your system an incredible performance boost no matter what the spec of machine your using.. go with a bigger ssd drive and your laughing.. they are the best invention to date in my opinion and i have always wondered since i was a kid growing up why the continue to make mechanical drives - we had cartridges in the old days, we had writeable programmable read only memories.. im surprised its taken so long to invent the SSD - but im thankful they have and they are relatively cheap..

I am running 2 SSd's (plus a regular harddrive for my data) - one for the OS and for for my game files (mostly Steam). I started with a 120GB - and it soon was too confining and had to keep uninstalling games to make space.

I would say moving your OS and game files to an SSD is one of the best upgrades you cam make.
