Are strawpolls allowed?

Simple question. Are strawpolls allowed because I couldn't find it in the ToS.

I may be wrong, but i see no reason whatsoever why they wouldn't be, in discussions. In normal threads, i don't see why one would use them.

strawpoll(1) the site or straw poll(2) as in the idiom?

(1)i do not believe its an enforcable rule per se but linking to external poll sites is generally frowned upon.
(2)asking for a group conensus or opinion on subject matter is fine as long as the content is within our rules.

I know this is old now, but I was thinking about it and touht of another way to do a poll:
The threads creator could, imeadiatly after creating the thread, make a some "answers" for users to vote on via the poins system.
EG;
Is my CPU or motherboard broked? Blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.
CPU...............3
Motherboard..0

the forums used to have a poll system. i dont seem to recall why it was taken away however it may not be back.

in any case.. group polling of opinions is not really the best way to get an answer in most cases
