well this is kinda 2 questions:

1.firstly are superflower a reliable source for my PSU ? (there on sale on overclockers).

2. is it worth spending an extra £10 ($16) to get the gold version of the psu instead of the bronze version.

DO NOT BUY IT.

Superflower is horrible. As seen here, it is a Tier 4 brand, and they are "Not Recommend for stressful situations. May not be able to put out full rated power above room temperature, and may slightly fail to meet ATX specs."

Instead aim for a tier 1 or 2 brand PSU, like XFX, Corsair, or SeaSonic.

im actually going to get a OCZ branded PSU as it as better reviews. thanks for the help though

Only drawback to OCZ is that the company went bankrupt last month or end of Oct. The warranty for their parts may not be worth anything as it is now known yet who is going to acquire all the parts of the business: Toshiba is interested in buy the company, but SPeculation is that they are only interested in the memory/SSD portion.
If the warranty is no big thing, then that will be a fine PSU.
