Are Tablet Pens compatible with different tablet brands?

The title says it all. My newly bought P27 tablet pen isn't working with my VisTablet 12" original. I would like to know if they are compatible and that if I have to remove any drivers or such. The pen is by monoprice and the the Tablet is by VisTablet.
