Cat5e cable many times is used for telephone or data.
If the jacks are wired correctly they can be used for ethernet. In general, you do not need anything else....of course, they must be plugged into something to function. Most times there is a central location all the cable go back to. You would place your router or a switch at that location. The actual details will depend on what you want to do and where your internet connection is located.
I would like to keep my router in its location and I was hoping I could plug it into that cat 5e plug then have any others work off ethernet if that is possible how could I do it.
You need to discover where all of those cables go to.
Utility room, garage, basement...
Hopefully, whoever did that cabling did a reasonable job.
What is at that central point determines how you proceed from there.
