Are the current heatsinks good for older processors like P4?

You will need to figure out which socket version your P4 is using and the look on newegg (or similar) for one that is compatible with your socket.

if you are asking will the fit a s478 or older, probably not. some may still come with older brackets, and with enough work, any could be made to fit.

if they will cool properly, yes.

but some low energy stock sinks may not be up to older high perfomance processors.
for example the stock opteron 165 heatsink is the same as the stock heatsink on my new 6000+, but the stock heatsinks on the new low power cpus are worse, and therefor wouldn't be up to the opteron.
