Are the molex connectors necessary?

So right now, im trying to connect fans to mobo. But there are these molex connectors connected to the 3-pin fan thingy. can i remove it and just connect it to the mobo? or are the molex connectors needed for power?

Yes you can directly connect the 3pin onto the motherboard.
Molex connectors are necessary when you don't have any 3 pin headers left on your board to connect fans. Then you use molex connectors to connect the fans to your power supply rather than the motherboard.

Thanks, also if you don't mind, can I use the CPU_OPT next to the CPU_FAN for another case fan instead of a cpu fan?
