Just bought a 390x and I am trying to run 4k smoothly but didn't have enough money for a better graphics card so I plan on buying a fury x within the next month or so. Can I run them both in crossfire?

Solution
Hey, nope, you can't run 2 different series of AMD GPUs in crossfire, but you can run up to 4 different AMD GPUs of same series and of different/same model in crossfire configuration, for example: 390X can be crossfired with 390/380/370 but can't be crossfired with GPUs like HD 7950/R9 270X/ or any of the Nvidia cards. If you want to crossfire any AMD GPUs just remember "the first 2 letters (HD/R7/R9) and the Second first letter (7XXXX/2XXX/3XXX/Fury) should match with each other".

For AMD the rule of thumb is they need the same chip inside. So if the same chip being use on another series they can also be CF. Core config also does not matter. 390X can't be CF with 380 and 370 because those two using different chip than 390X/390. But 390X can be CF with 290X/290 because both actually using the same chip. Just that 390X chip (Grenada) have few new minor tweaks but at large still the same as the chip use in 290X (Hawaii)
