the card is not much longer than the PCIe slots edge.

I've NEVER seen a board where the ram is placed too close to the PCI, AGP, or PCIe slot. The worst I've ever seen is where you'll need to remove the GPU in order to release the tabs that hold the RAM sticks in.

Board ram slots are designed so as to not interfere with the leading edge of the top pci-express slot

That card is tiny anyway , unless you happen to be running mitx it won't even reach anywhere near the ram slots.
