Are the sennheiser HD 598 good for everyday PC use

Im going to get a pair of Sennheiser HD 598 but I want to know is there a cheaper alternative to them that I could get and if they are good for everyday pc use like Gaming, Listening to music etc

To my ear the cheaper Sennheiser HD558s sound pretty much identical to the 598s, the HD518s are pretty nice as well.

Yeah they are excellent for most types of music and quite good for games due to their good soundstage. However they are a little light on bass in my opinion and they are open back so if you have a noisy house and are trying to block out background noise a closed back set would be a better idea.

My favorite closed back set is the audio technica MSR7's. However they aren't that cheap. Cheaper alternatives would be the Audio technica M40X and M50x. I have never heard the sennheiser HD 280 pro's but they are under $100 and have pretty good reviews.

Closed back sets tend to have worse sound stage. So in games they wont be quite as good at clearly showing the distance or position of a sound in game than an open back set like the HD598s would.
