Im looking for an IPS panel monitor for gaming, I have seen reviews saying the Asus MX279H is a good gaming monitor option with a 5ms response time and 10ms input lag, are they the same for the smaller 23" Asus MX239H model? also if anyone has or had these monitors how do they preform?

The 8ms number represents the original revision A00 model. I believe the newer revisions now feature an average response time of around 6ms~.

I'm not sure why everyone is going bananas over response time lately. I've only ever noticed any slight delay on a monitor rated at an average response time of 14ms.

I think the extra price is worth it. You'll be getting a monitor that has great color calibration options and an amazing stand which matters more than you might think. Not to mention the U2412M is VESA compatible which is a big plus if you want to wall mount your monitor in the future.
A friend of mine owns the 27" version and it's pretty decent. It was perfect when she first got it but over time I've began to notice it getting a little bit of backlight bleed in some of the corners. This is a problem with a lot of IPS monitors so it isn't a huge deal.

For that price range I would rather purchase a Dell U2412M. (which I'm buying very soon). It's a great monitor for the price and is on sale on newegg for $240 with the promo code which is an absolute steal in my book.

I would be buying off amazon.co.uk, so newegg isnt really an option, I looked up the Dell U2412M and its listed for £40 ($60) more than the Asus MX239H 23" version, would it be worth it? and is has a 8ms GTG response time is that rather slow for gaming?
