Are the X99A SLI Plus motherboards compatible with i5 CPUs?

I'm finally rebuilding my new rig from the bottom up, and Tom's knowledge is very important to my doing it. I've scouted the MSI X99A SLI Plus motherboard as my primary candidate for it's combined features and price tag, and the i5-6500 Intel processor CPU for reasons. But I don't know if they are compatible.

I checked the manufacturer's compatibility page, and it only listed i7 and Xeon processors as compatible, but the manufacturer may only be steering me toward more expensive options. Will I need to shell out another 100+ bucks for compatibility, or will an i5 work with the MSI X99A?

Solution
No it won't work. X99 platform is completely different than the 1151 series. To help make your PC and check for compatibility errors, use https://pcpartpicker.com . It can be a little daunting at first, but it is the best way to select your new components based by price and rating.
