Question Are There Any Affordable Linux-Compatible GPU Options in 2025?

I had hoped that AMD's RDNA architecture would help bring some relief to the inflated GPU prices, but the RX9xxx series prices are still ridiculously high.

By the way, why are EU prices so outrageous? As far as I know, the EU isn't in any major tariff conflicts.

So, what other alternatives do I have?
Since I’m looking for a GPU that works well with open-source software, NVIDIA is off the table for me.

The prices for RDNA3/2 are even worse than expected.

Intel’s new Battleimage GPUs look promising, but they’re just too limited—there’s no B770 model.

Gaming isn’t my main priority. What I need is solid performance for CUDA, CAD, and encoding/decoding tasks. Gaming performance is a secondary concern. I enjoy gaming occasionally, but I focus more on content and functionality rather than flashy visuals or chasing high frame rates. A GPU with 16GB of RAM would be ideal, but I could manage with 12GB.

Given these needs, what are my options?

Should I wait a few months for RDNA4 prices to settle?
Should I consider the B580, even though it only has 20CU?
Or maybe the A770 is the best bet, with its 32CU and the 16GB 256-bit memory version?

If waiting is the best move, what should I wait for? Lower prices, the release of B770/780, or maybe the 9060/XT?
