Hey,

I've been reading on this forum for a while now, just recently got into computer-gaming, here goes my first post.
I got a chance to buy a whole setup from a guy that knows a guy for pretty cheap.
However, I feel like it's not at it's best.
This is the setup:
Case: Sharkoon T9
MOBO: Asrock 970 extreme3 r2.0
Processor: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition
Processorcooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo
GPU: XFX 3GB 7950 HD Double Dissipation edition
RAM: 2x Corsair 4 GB DDr3-1600
PSU: Corsair CX750M
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 500gb for games
SSD: ADATA Premier Pro sp900 128gb for windows
HDD: WD 2TB
OS: Windows 8.1

I did my research and am definitely swapping out the Asrock MOBO, either for a sabertooth or an asus crosshair v. The other doubts I have are about the PSU, the CX version seems pretty cheap, but for now it works. Later on I will swap the GPU for a good AMD R9-280x.
I am also looking for a Noctua DH-14 instead of the Hyper TX3 Evo.
All the hardware will take a while to buy since I live in the Netherlands though.

My main issue is that the setup is pretty darn loud.
I don't know if thats the way it's supposed to be but damn, the fans on the Sharkoon T9 are loud as hell. What can be done about this? If it's really that bad of a case I will buy a different one, but I'm scared I'll fudge everything up when moving the hardware from one case to another lol. And are there any comments/suggestions on my future plans?
Thanks in advance!

the 7950 is is around the performance of a r9 280x so no need to upgrade the gpu later on, also in the case you could get a new case or just replace the fans with silent ones. But your system looks really good, and the evga supernova 750 watt psu is good.

EDIT: the r9 280 is essentially a re branded 7970 yet the 7950 is close to the 7970 in performance terms so really it would be better if you upgraded to a 780 or r9 290 later on

I would change a couple of things.
1. The case.Something like a HAF 912 has better airflow than that Sharkoon T9.
2. The PSU.Corsair CX series are really low quality,so changing it would be necessary.XFX Core 750W is a way better option.
3. The motherboard. The ASUS Crosshair V Formula is the best motherboard for AMD CPUs.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX (R2.0)
or ASUS M5A99FX PRO are also great options.
4. The CPU cooler.TX3 should do the job,but a Hyper 212 EVO is a much better option.And it's only $5-10 more expensive.
You wouldn't see much of a performance difference between the R9 280X and the 7950.An R9 290 or a GTX 780 are better options, like jimmyjammywho said. Also, the XFX Core 750W can support those two,so no worries about that. :)
All the best. 😉

Thanks a lot! Would you prefer the Hyper 212 or the Noctua DH14?
I've been trying to find a new case and damn, there are loads of them, no clue what to choose.
Would you really advise me to replace the case or would replacing the crappy fans be enough?
I really like the look of the Sharkoon (open side panel and red leds etc), but the fans are just too loud.
Whats the risk if I keep using the CX750 for now? I feel like the other things are higher in priority, I could be entirely wrong though.
Changing the GPU will not be necessary for now then. I run BF4 at Ultra perfectly so far. Changing it in the future will probably be a must though. R9 290 will be the way to go, unless something even more attractive appears.

I wouldn't prefer the 212 EVO over the NH-D14,but the Hyper 212 is enough,if you don't want to do some SERIOUS OCing.
Like I said, the HAF 912 is a great case and is perfect for budget builds. And it looks BEAUTIFUL.
The CX750 is a really low quality PSU and may explode when you install an R9 290.If it works with the 270X then keep it.But if you ever wanted to upgrade to an R9 290,then PSU upgrade is NECESARRY.
Check the PSU Tier List here and see for yourself:

All the best. 😉

I've been looking at the Haf 912 and 922, one of them is going to be mine. Are you positive all of my hardware (including the new you suggested) will fit?

I am changing the cpu cooler to either a hyper 212 or a noctua dh14, the motherboard to asus crosshair v or sabertooth the PSU to a different good one, not touching the GPU for now but might swap to a better one in the distant future.
These are changes I plan to do soon. First thing is the case. I am doubting between a Haf 912 advanced and a haf 922. The 912 is smaller, but if you are positive everything will fit that might be a better option. Basically only keeping the 3 hdd/ssd's, ram, processor and gpu lol.

Edit: I've been looking at some reviews and the horrible noise might be coming from the PSU. How much watt should I look for, considering I might upgrade to a better GPU in the future. I will be getting a XFX one but no clue how many watt I need.

XFX Core 650W is enough.
Rosewill Capstone 650W is also a great choice. 😉
Both HAFs are great, get whichever one you want.
All the best.
