I heard that intel 6th gen onwards there is a fixed lifespan for them built in their chipset , is it true or uttter blunter

Serious BS. Never has been any sort of lifespan switch. The only thing that sets the usable lifespan of a cpu is software. I have a pentium II 350MHz that still works just fine, but figure that it's far too slow to handle anything newer than what was available for Windows 98SE.

don't think that's the case, most of my cpus runs fine for more than 10 years, however, it is very difficult to get matching rams/motherboards/cpu replacement if your system is broken. also performance and power consumption are better new chips. from the product life cycle point of view, it's about 3-5 years after launch (longer for xeon line)

You can look at the mtbf which should give you a good idea, but ymmv. I have no clue how they come up with that number, but yea. However, there was some discussion back in the days around 2010, regarding a kill switch using 3G network from anti theft department where IT staff can kill the lost / stolen device.
