[SOLVED] Are there any router settings that may affect ping?

Hello, I recently moved out of my place and when I did I bought a new router, it was already pre-setup by the ISP so all I had to do was plug the ethernet and play. However, I used to have very low and stable ping. now its very unstable. not that its high, but its soo unstable. eg: its standing on 50ms, then all of a sudden it jumps to 250 for like 100ms then goes back to 30, and so on.. these spikes are enough to distract me from what im doing.
Q: Are there any router settings that causes this, or is it just too many users or a problem from the isp?

Run packetlosstest.com and see how smooth the graphs are. It sounds like an isp issue, but we need to run some tests.
