Are these better?

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my system and was wondering if these components are better than what I have.

These are the parts I have at the moment, http://tinyurl.com/np4ct22

What I was thinking about changing to are the following,

I was also planning on getting this water cooler but that most likely wouldn't be until September.

My question is, would these parts better for gaming (fairly often) and video editing?

Thanks for any and all help, Harry.

Ps if anyone knows somewhere trusted I can get these parts for a bit less that would be great, if not never mind :)

You can't use an Intel processor with that AMD motherboard. So you'll have to figure a new board in the cost as well. And you will have to do a clean install of Win when you change boards.

The 240mm cooler will offer more cooling capacity than a 120mm cooler, naturally.

I was going to get the motherboard with the processor. Also when I changed the motherboard and processor a while ago I didn't have to completely re-install windows, is there a reason I would have to this time?

I can't imagine a previously installed Win7 on an AMD board being able to complete bootup when it tries to find drivers in its database for a new Intel board. But give it a try, it won't hurt. If you get lucky and make it to the desktop, run CCleaner and clean up the mess that the Registry will be in. Then load the drivers from the new board.

Either way, you'll have to perform a new Win activation if your copy of Win7 is an OEM license.

Thinking about it when I changed boards before I think I went from AMD to AMD. My windows was already on the computer when I bought it so how would I go about re-installing it because I don't have the CD for it.
Would the Intel processor I mentioned be better for gaming and editing than my current one is? If not then I'll likely just get a bigger motherboard so I have a better airflow.

Ah, can you recommend something that would be worth it? Either AMD or Intel would be fine.

My thinking with the MB was that, given my current one is Micro ATX, all of my components and wires are quite close together and a little compact so my thinking was that if I had a bigger MB that problem would be alleviated somewhat.
thanks

If cables and wires are blocking airflow, you need to do some cable management. But simply changing the motherboard to a longer one will hardly be the answer.

You are already near the top of the food chain for AMD. Any significant performance upgrade would indeed require a platform change. If the extra expense and work is acceptable, then by all means move on up to an Intel platform. The i5-4690K is about the top end of the quad cores and allows OC'ing. Moving to a 4 core/8 thread i7 would provide a decreasing bang for the buck when it comes to gaming. If you make the move, look for a Z97 motherboard so you can move to the next gen Intel CPU when it is released.
