Are These Expensive Keyboards Really Worth It?

Long time online FPS only gamer here since the mid 90's. I've always used basic $30 or so keyboards for gaming, though have always used high end mice. I see these $100 - $150 gaming keyboards out there and am a bit intrigued by them. What I'm most curious about is if they are really worth it? I understand that the ones with the little displays and the extra macro keys is a nice to have, but aside from those options, is the overall technology so much better/worth it compared to just spending $30 or so on a basic keyboard, which is used strictly for gaming?

It depends on what you use them for. Most expensive keyboards are mechanical, which most will agree is worth the extra cost since they are more durable. The added features are useful if you are in a particular situation, like having a keyboard with extra media keys if you're a big movie watcher.

It's all a matter of if you consider spending a little extra cash for a little time saved in hotkeys and modifiable keys.
I've used a Unicomp model M for years. http://www.pckeyboard.com/
I can't answer for anybody else or any other type, but absolutely a great keyboard is worth buying. Keep in mind that what I have is just like that old IBM keyboard that came with that 8086 that you or your parents had back in the early 80s. It's not loaded with fancy extra keys, just a great tactile feel and sound, not to mention durability. I don't know why people don't snap these babies up, 80 bucks and up for something that you'll use for 20 years.
P.S. There are models with extras.
