I'm just currently looking for components as I'm planning to build in the future, so I'll see what I can do at the time :) . Also are there any good components coming out in the space of about 1-4 months?

Hmmmm... I'm considering a HD4870... anyone have any advice? And also somebody said to take a thermaltake 1000w psu! Should I or is this too extreme?

Whoever told you to get a 1000W PSU for that system needs their head checked. The 550VX will power your system nicely. If you think you'll ever want crossfire 4870's, the highest PSU you'll ever need would be something like the Corsair 750TX.
