So I'm decent with computers compared to others but I have never stumbled upon Processor socket "AM3-b" does this really mean anything. The current CPU is a FX 6200 and I would like to upgrade BUT I only have so many options from HP. Are 4100, 6100, 6120, 6200, 8100,8120,8150, 8350 really my only options or can I use the newer series FX?

Link for reference. sorry its so long.

I question HP's list of CPUs. The FX-8350 isn't a Zambezi, it's a Vishera. So their data is... suspect.
But both Zambezi and Vishera use the AM3+ socket, but the MB may need a BIOS update to recognize the newer Vishera processors.
However... if that list is correct and the board recognizes the FX-8350, it should recognize the FX-6300/6350 and FX-4300/4350 I would think. If it were me, I'd jump on the HP forum and pose that question. OEM PCs are are dependent on the manufacturer's design.

I believe the AM3b socket was the first (white) socket designed for the FX line of processors. Sort of a modification of the original AM3 to make it a suitable AM3+.
