Hi, im building another main computer for video/photo editing and gaming. I have some spare parts that I can get from friends and from my old computer so this would be my computer so far. I know that 64gb is a little overkill but I was looking that 3600mhz and 64 with 140$ is a nice deal for me, and its only about 40-60$ more than 32gb.

Case: Lian Li 216 (94$)
Processor: Ryzen 5700x (190$)
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S (Free)
Motherboard: Asus B550 TUF Gaming Plus Wifi (140$)
Memory: G.Skill 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 PC4-28800 3600MHz Ripjaws V CL18 1.4V (139$)
Power: Corsair 850W RM 850x (Free)
Storage: WD Black SN770 1Tt M.2 nvme (2x80$)

GPU: Will buy a used 3070 or 2080 when the prices drop a little.

+SSD/HDD drives.

Might be the motherboard depends on the chipset so more information is needed on it.

you are buying a chip for a dead platform, might as well get the 5800X3D.

For rams and SSD, cheaper options are available:

Thanks I found these also G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 C18 DC - 64GB (179$) F4-3600C18D-64GTZN (179$) that are qvl listed and only 30$ more although I dont like rgb at all. Stupid question but would the rgb in ram consume more from pc or is it so little it doesn't matter.

Thanks for your time to look at parts and answer pack. Yeah I know its a dead platform, but after reading about the stability issues with AM5 its just feels a little safer for me and I will keep this computer for 3 years at least so I will probably skip AM5 anyways or look at older parts in 2026.

Bear in mind that CPU does not have integrated graphics. So you'll need another GPU in the mean time to get a display and set your system up until you pick up the GPU.

Also, I'd strongly suggest looking into an AMD GPU since you can usually get seriously better raster performance for the same amount of money. The one thing you might compromise on is ray-tracing performance which neither of the ones you're looking at are going to be great at either.
