I am upgrading my PC, and am planning to to get the following parts. Are all of these compatible and/or recommend to go with each other? If there are any other preferable components around the same price that could replace these?

CPU: i5 6500
Motherboard: MSI Gaming H170 Gaming M3
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133
Power Supply: Corsair CX500M
Case: Carbide Series 300R Windowed
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB
Hard Drive: WDC WD10EZEX-60M2NA0

Thanks in advance!

Yes, they're all compatible.

Recommended..... that depends - mostly on cost.

There are H110 boards, and alternative H170's too - those may be cheaper.

H110/H170 can't utilize speeds above 2133MHz RAM - but there may be cheaper options.

The CX500M PSU, if it's V2 is decent. If it's the V1, then I'd suggest you avoid it.
Whether V1 or V2, there are usually better priced, quality options available.

1060, same deal - there might be a cheaper option.

I already own the CX500M power supply, and I'm guessing it is V1. Will this be important to change to get the other components I want, or is it fine but not ideal?
