Are these SMART values normal?

So i got an external drive fairly recently and was wondering if these values appear normal? It's a WD My Passport Ultra 2GB drive. I know what some of them mean since they seem self explanatory, but not some others like Load/Unload Cycle Count & also Power-off Retract Count.

In any case i have attached an image below so you can see the values. Other than this, i haven't noticed any issues actually using the drive so far except for "Ejecting" it from Windows, it has said a few times that the drive was still in use by other programs even when i shut down everything else.

The Power-off Retract Count should be 0 though should it not? I can't find too much info about it on Google, just a few links and some of the info is kind of contradicting.

A lot of SMART information is more just there as general use statistics purely for informative reasons and don't necessarily indicate any problems. They only become relevant when debugging failures.

For example, Power-off Retract will essentially count the number of times the drive has been powered off.
Load/Unload counts the heads being unloaded off the disk, which happens for low power consumption modes like when going into standby or powering off.
There's also stats like Power On Hours that tells you how long the drive has been powered on.

In short, as an average user, you don't really need to worry about it.

yes, i did a similar research years ago and understood close to nothing

the only conclussion i could reach on the smart info, the only parameter that you can understand is write error and relocated sector count

those two, when platters or heads are becoming damaged, will report numbers there, that tells you that is time to full backup and get a new hard disk

temperature, only os bad over 45, i have used hard disk at 50°c for years and they lasted at least 5 years and it is supposed that such temperature kills them faster
