I've got a P4 2.4 533FSb cpu. My temperatures are, cpu:50 idle, 66 full load; system: 30 idle 35 full load. Tested with prime95.
I'm not an overclocker or anything. I just want a stable machine. I'm not having any problems with the pc but was wondering whether these temperatures are acceptable for normal operation? The intel website states the maximum case temperature as being 69.1 - 74 (depending on whether its A,B or C. I'm not sure which mine is)
I understand the CPU 'downshifts' when it gets too hot. Is there any fear of this happening, or is it already happenning without me knowing?
I had just replaced the heatsink on the cpu. It used to get up 73 degrees under full load. So 66 is an improvement but is it enough?
