Although the Xeon X5450 always runs a little hotter than other 45nm CPUs, but 74°C at 22% CPU is a bit high.

What is your actual cooling setup?

Just checked Intel website, the X5450 has 120W TDP, it definitely needs a big cooler with high capacity fan.
